John J. Stephens

General Partner of MJ Lupton Partners LP Partner of MJ Lupton Partners – a closely held investment fund.

John is the former Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of ATT where he was responsible for financial planning, corporate development, accounting, tax, auditing, treasury, investor relations and corporate real estate. John served as ATT CFO from June 2011 until his retirement in March of 2021.

Previously, he served as Senior Vice President and Controller, Chief Financial officer for AT&T’s Diversified Services and had responsibility for all corporate tax and shared services. He was named to that position in November 2001.

John has served on the Board of Directors of América Móvil, an international telecommunications company, and currently serves as Audit Committee Chair of Freeport-McMoRan, an international copper miner, and Chair of Solid Power, a next generation electric vehicle battery technology and as an advisor to a large privately held retailer.

John serves on the nonprofit boards of the City of Dallas’s Economic Development Corporation, Communities Foundation of Texas, Jesuit College Preparatory of Dallas Foundation, and the Diocese of Dallas finance council.  Previously John served on the Boards of Catholic Charities, Dallas Regional Chamber, and the United Way of Dallas.  John earned his B.S.B.A. in accounting from Rockhurst University and a J.D, from St. Louis University Law School. John and Michele have been married for 43 years and have six children and 3 grandchildren.
